⚠️ I updated my R2 remote and now it won’t turn onUpdated 2 days ago

If your R2 remote stopped working after a firmware update, there’s a strong chance the wrong firmware was installed.

❌ What likely happened

If you accidentally installed Phaze remote firmware onto your R2 remote (which is used for GTR Series 1, Stoke 1, and Onirique), it will permanently disable the R2 remote.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to repair or reverse this—it’s considered bricked.

📱 Why this happens

The Explore by Evolve app lets you update firmware for multiple remote types. If you don’t double-check the model before updating, it’s easy to install the wrong version.

  • R2 Remote = used for GTR Series 1, Stoke 1, and Onirique

  • Phaze Remote = used for GTR Series 2, Hadean, Diablo, Renegade, Stoke X, Fusion etc .

Installing Phaze firmware on an R2 remote causes it to stop functioning entirely.

✅ How to avoid this

Always read the firmware instructions carefully before updating. The app will show which remote and board the update is for—if it doesn’t match your gear, don’t proceed.

🛠️ What can I do now?

If your R2 remote is unresponsive after an update and you suspect this happened, you’ll need to purchase a replacement remote, which would be the Phaze remote.
